Here is an encouraging story of investing in green technology.

Who better than a McDonald’s restaurant owner to lead the way with one million dollars invested!

His Ohio restaurant was his newest of five locations and he decided the new one would be built

The owner Bob Jursich must have made a calculated business decision.

A regular MickyD’s cost about 2.5 million to open. But a “Jursichized”

MikkyD’s costs 3.5 million. That extra one million was financed.

Why? His power bill will be 25% less every month! That amount of savings will be used to make the monthly payments on the extra one million dollars borrowed!

A Million Dollars of Green

Once the extra one million is paid off then he could have a monthly net profit gain equal to 25% of his power bill for as long as….forever!

Thus for Jursich, with no present extra monetary sacrifice, he stands to gain big on a regular basis once the loan is paid.

Think about this: he is a early adopter, which in this case will probably attract at least 10% more customer visits. More visits more profit!

The reason it will attract more customers is simple. It’s unique. It’s green. Fans of green technology will flock to it. Kids and parents will be curious.

This, besides price and value, is another reason to buy from MikkyD’s and will attract “new” customers.

This, will attract new business because green is trending up in consumer’s minds and that is fact which you can bank on.

Plus he probably got some equipment write offs and tax breaks!

Creating Green With Green

And since his reputation is priceless, by doing this, he is adding brand value that will create an emotional bond between his customers and his new location.

This is a case of super sizing green energy.

“The 4,000-sq-foot restaurant features geothermal heating and cooling, LED light fixtures and 341 solar panels on canopies in the parking lot. Ten geothermal wells under the pavement of the restaurant’s drive-through heat and cool the building and also chill the ice maker, the freezers and the refrigerators, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Then, the waste heat from the icemaker and refrigeration units is used to heat water for the dishwashers and public restrooms.”

“The solar panels are expected to provide about 92,000 kWh per year, about 25 percent of the restaurant’s electricity needs.”

“The restaurant also features insulated glass windows, a white membrane roof that reflects sunlight, and solar tube lighting in addition to the LEDs.”

The McDonald’s corporation is officially not commenting on the greenest version of its stores, however, according to the article, both global and national executives have visited this new green store.
