Today I gathered some recycling tips for Earth911, which is always an interesting read.
Turns out all that stuff in your backyard can probably be easily reused, repurposed or recycled responsibly.
Let’s start with an old garden hose.
Here’s an idea, poke holes in it from beginning to end to create a water sprinkler!
Or a handicraft expert might consider repurposing it as a chair or basket. Another nifty idea is to turn it into a handle for a carrying a heavy object.
Patio Furniture Outdated?
For furniture, re-selling or donating is best. If the condition is poor that is OK because a handy person would consider repairing it. A good idea is to contact thrift stores to see how they handle furniture.
Some thrift stores might pick it up for free. If the condition is really nasty then consider the materials that it contains. Wood and Aluminium can be recycled. Wood, if it has not been treated with chemicals, is ok to use as firewood.
Now about that old gas grill. If it works you can donate it or sell it on Craigslist. Just be careful with the propane tank. That must be recycled by a professional recycling business.
The Grill Is Gone?
As far as the grill goes, you disassemble it piece by piece and sell to a scrap metal dealer in your area.
For old fencing that is no longer in use, one of the best places to recycle is Habitat Humanity.
