What the heck is redneck recycling? I don’t really know, however, Jeff Foxworthy might! I wanted to share this article because it is the on the lighter side of green. For the purposes of this post, we will call the subject of our post, the “redneck.”

I use this term lightly since I went to high school at the same time and in the same county (Fulton County, Georgia) as Jeff Foxworthy.

Besides whatever is expressed in this post, we can leave all the other explanations of “Redneck-ism” to Jeff.

Since we all are a little “red around the neck” or how else would have the big old ugly satellite dishes sprung up in peoples’ yards?

“Redneck recycling” is not about placing paper, plastic and glass into separate blue recycling bins. It is about reusing anything that is available!

The name of this blog is “ReuseRecycle,” which we find out in the article, means a little more in redneck-speak. There it means “Recoup, Rig and Rehash”

Do you ever wonder what happened to those old satellite dishes? Well at least one of them became a giant umbrella to the local mailboxes at the nearby apartment complex! That is what I call creative reuse.

Learn from the Best

What else did we learn from the redneck recycler? Take a used and seemingly useless water-bed mattress. Cut it open and in half right down the middle, remove the foam baffles and then use it to line a goldfish pond!

Rednecks specialize in outdoor activity so why not outdoor decor? Want to make a fire pit? Take one of those small concrete manhole structures and some fire brick and…Viola! Can you fix a toilet with just a small paper clip? Apparently rednecks can! Make a riding lawnmower out of spare parts? Yes that too is another amazing redneck feat! Not bad, why push when you can ride and glide?

Ever play horseshoes with an old toilet seat? That is the redneck playbook for real. Or just use that old toilet bowl as a giant flower-pot for a yard decoration. Please make the following good use out of your old tractor tires: 1) a sandbox, 2) a mini flower garden, or 3) add a tarp and make a pool for the kiddies!

Underwear and diapers make good rags, dish or dust towels. Your trucks make for a good aluminum can crusher.
